After reading the title of this article, some number will come to your mind that will be around 230!! You may have read a line on many website " users from #Number of countries are already using our services..", or something similar to it. Some websites give a list of 200+ countries list with their currency also. Because they include Territories and Dependencies also. I asked this questions to many students and got very surprising results. So I decided to make an article on this topic.
So let's go to the answer of the question, there are 195 total countries in the world. Out of which 193 are members of UN (United Nations). Some people/Websites will say a number of countries as 196 as they count Taiwan as a country, but as of now many countries (including the USA) doesn't officially recognize Taiwan as a Country because The People's Republic of China considers Taiwan as a breakaway province of china. You can get more knowledge on this controversy by searching google or click on below links.
Currently, United Nations have 193 recognized members, two other countries Vatican City and Kosovo are not in the list, So the total number goes to 195. ( Or 196 if you consider Taiwan )
we have compiled a complete list of countries with their capitals.
